A short mixed-media animation for the 24 hour Digital Design challenge. This animation took the prompt of "Against the Clock" and creatively interpreted it as a battle against a large clocked faced robot, and a steampunk warrior wielding a sword. The animation cleverly utilizes the concept of time to and makes the robot able to rewind itself and create an endless loop of battles. The environment and robot were made in Blender on my laptop using low poly meshes and basic textures, and the animation was done in Toonsquid on my iPad. I utilised a stand-in object in blender to use as a reference for where the 2D character was going to go, I later rerendered the animation without the object and added the 2d portion on top. I later added sound effects and editing effects in Davinci Resolve to give the full effect of the rewinding to get the loop I wanted. I wanted to use the 3d environment to my advantage to make a full 360 turnaround with dynamic camera moves, this is probably the most complex animation I've done and I'm very satisfied that it is at least presentable. I may continue to work on this animation in the future, blocking out colours for the character and refining the lineart to hopefully create a polished piece of animation suitable for my portfolio.
